PAGINA CAPTURADA POR SEPRIN. NO HABRIMOS JUICIO DE CONTENIDOS, SOLO SE EXPONE
Latest Update: 14 June 2000
Disclaimer: The following is a collection of "Eastern" and "Western" resources on the "Bin Laden Phenomenon," with hope of displaying the competing "profiles" and the underlying social and psychological conditionings on both sides with the 'terrorist', 'political', and 'racist' ramifications on the man and the images he represents. It started as a naive page, part of our ongoing ScholarsBase a learning-aid for scholars and students of the Middle East and Arab politics, and reached this size and design because of the hype of the media (it was started by CNN). This is the true history of this page. Otherwise, we have no association, near or far, with the Saudi opposition figure, nor do we subscribe to his views or ideals. We feel we have included all the major websites on the 'phenomenon', but have not included every single article available. Please visit the Virtual Bin Laden site for the most updated site on the man. We have offered a review of this site on 07 March 2000. The Virtual Bin Laden owners emphasize that they "[are] not in anyway affiliated with any groups, governments or organizations and is in no way connected with Osama Bin Laden himself". The Canadian National Post offers another review of Virtual bin Laden. Prof. Bernard Lewis offers the most intelligent analysis of the phenomenon and its historical and political entailments (not void of political purposes as far as Jerusalem is concerned). Prof. Sardar studies bin Laden within the history of Islam. WIRED and the San Fransisco Examiner reviewed our site in 1998. The CIA offered its view of it as well. We think the comments by CIA Chief Gen. Gordon were only made because our service includes the word "Muslim" and obviously shows his lack of knowledge of this forum. We have encountered in bringing this website to you some genuine sites, and also some of the weirdest and most absurd of material on the net. You be the judge, as always, of what you read. (eds.)
